Barrington 4th of July Fireworks 2012

Dry weather could hinder this year's Barrington fireworks display.

Combining dry weather and fireworks could be a recipe for disaster. As seen with the recent , a single spark could set acres of land ablaze. 

The village of Barrington is keeping an eye on the weather conditions in anticipation for the Independence Day fireworks display, scheduled for July 4 at dusk. 

"We’ll look at it very carefully with the dryness and everything we’ll make an assessment hopefully we’ll have some rain that will help wet things down," Jeff Lawler said.

The Barrington fireworks will be put on by the Barrington 4th of July Committee and held at . 

If the weather is too dry, the fire department may step in to provide a safer environment instead of canceling the show.

"In the past, the fire department has put water on the general area where the fireworks are fired off when we’ve had dry weather," Lawler said. "It’s a small thing to do to avoid a much bigger problem."
