Citizens for Conservation Native Plant Sale Breaks Record

More than 15,300 flowering plants were purchased during the sale.

Citizens for Conservation’s 17th Annual Native Plant, Shrub and Tree Sale is in now in the record books.

More than 15,300 forbs (flowering plants such as queen of the prairie, blood root, butterfly weed, red trillium and spiderwort) grasses and ferns were purchased by gardeners, along with 217 shrubs and trees.

Knowledgeable CFC volunteers, themselves successful native gardeners, were at the two-day sale to assist enthusiastic gardeners who want to plant for beauty and wildlife and avoid using herbicides and pesticides. Gardeners came from a wide area to choose native plants for their home, business and municipal landscapes. The sale is held the first week-end in May of each year.
