Kayla's mom says: The Montessori Preschool of North Barrington has the best teaching philosophy, developmentally appropriate curriculum and environment for learning to take place, parent participation and opportunities for parent education, teachers and staff are wonderful! Best selection for us and would choose again.

Such a wonderful school full of caring, smart teachers and students. My son has thrived there!

As soon as I saw the beautiful grounds of the Montessori Children's House of North Barrington and met the friendly and caring teachers, I didn't think twice about putting my then 23-month old in their toddler program. They really nurture patience, independence and respect for other people and our environment, both indoors and out. They encourage children to learn important life skills like potty training (within a month of starting the program my son no longer wanted diapers!), dressing themselves, proper table manners and cleaning up after themselves. For those who have the time and interest, they also offer the opportunity for parents to get engaged in activities during school hours or special events.

We love Montessori Children's House of North Barrington. It is a beautiful, nurturing environment with loving teachers who guides the children in their daily chosen work. The children are happy, sociable and motivated , and they carry a love for learning even after they move to a traditional school in first grade.

Mchnb is a phenomenal school. The nurturing faculty does an exceptional job of fostering independence, exploration and creativity among their students. My child looks forward to going to school each day.

MCHNB is a wonderful preschool! It has excellent teachers and offers a great indoor and outdoor learning environment. It has been an excellent choice for us - my son learns so much every day!

I have been a part of the MCHNB family for 5 years now with my 2 youngest children. The teachers have always been very patient and attentive to each child's strengths and needs, helping them all grow into strong, independent children. As they transition into an elementary school, I have found my girls to be way ahead of their peers academically and socially.

Our daughter has been a lucky member of the MCHNB community going on 3 years now -- since she was 3 years old. We cannot imagine a more nurturing, creative, and inspiring place for her to spend these important years of wonder and discovery! Her love for the school & teachers and excitement for the talents she has discovered (cooking, reading, world geography, and Spanish to name a very few) are the best returns on our investment we could receive. The magic in Montessori learning at MCHNB happens from the carefully planned rooms with loving teachers to the enchanting and expansive outdoor grounds -- not matched by any school we're aware of! And we've met countless adults who have fond and vivid memories of attending the school over it's 40+ years of existence. It seems a real legacy of learning and icon in the community!

Love this school! My daughter has attended the MCHNB for one year and I have been amazed at the progress she has made during her time there. The teachers are great. Everyday when she comes home she tells me what she learned that day and I am constantly impressed at her progress. This school is teaching her to enjoy learning. I would highly recommend this school.

Both of my boys attend Montessori Children's House. My 3 yr old is in the pre-primary program 5 mornings a week & my 2 yr old attends the parent-child class on Monday mornings. The school allows children to learn in a prepared environment. They seek out those projects that are interesting to them which really helps to facilitate learning. Each child learns at their own pace. They are given the opportunity to practice everyday life skills as well like sweeping, washing dishes & baking. This environment really boosts self-esteem by allowing every child to discover for themselves what they are capable of, and it also teaches responsibility at a very young age. The teachers are incredible; patient, kind, respectful & understanding. And the outdoor learning area is a wonderful place to play, grow & explore! If you have never heard of Montessori or are curious to see what the classrooms are like, call MCHNB and schedule a tour and classroom observation today! It will be the best thing for your child!!!

Our daughter attends the morning sessions classes and we feel she has really benefited from being in an environment where she is allowed to learn at her own pace. The teachers are very kind and patient and the school is like an extension of home for her. I agree the pictures don't do it justice. I visited other schools where the children were in a basement and a lot more emphasis was placed on technology. MCHNB offers a great balance of education, art, music, and really fosters kids' connection with nature making sure they get outside play time daily. I did a lot of research & you just get a feeling from talking to teachers and touring their school. Overall, it was my mother's instinct that made me select the school.

What drew me to MCHNB is that they're one of the few preschools in the area that offers a learning environment (not daycare) for children as young as 2. (They also offer a parent-child class for children younger than 2). I enrolled my youngest right after she turned 2. She only said a few words and was still wearing diapers. In the first few months, her vocabulary exploded, and they even worked with her on potty training. EIght months later, her conversational skills amaze us, not to mention, she's reciting songs, the alphabet, and can even count to 10. The staff clearly love what they do and have amazing patience with the children. Another draw for us was the school grounds, which offer an incredible outdoor classroom area for learning and play year round -- even sledding in the snow -- that most preschools around can't match. Unfortunately the photos on Patch don't do it justice.
