Two points. First the district is contributing 65% and Village 35%. Secondly, someone should ask theRead More ditrict why they insisted on the Villageiring 7 more firefighters but when they looked at starting their own department, they are looking at contract services. My answer is the same reason the Village didn't want to hire more into the union...it's cost prohibitive.
Jake Hartman June 19, 2013 at 03:43 pm
The new firefighters are cost prohibitive, but not the wasted millions of dollars playing realRead More estate developer in the middle of town that are gone forever. Makes perfect sense! At least you get service from the firefighter/paramedics.

Was there a problem with the fire service or is the mayor just trying to make name for herself?
Wendy M. Kimura, of Chicago, went missing in the Cary area in 1999.
Karlene June 16, 2013 at 08:38 am
Is there a photo that you can post of her?
Denise Majko June 16, 2013 at 05:54 pm
Sounds a bit like someone has already given them some information if they are again searching thoseRead More areas she was last seen. I hope they are able to resolve this case and find Ms. Kimura.
Denise Majko June 17, 2013 at 11:30 am
Did they search the Fox River 14 years ago? If not, then why not? The way they (police) are goingRead More about this renewed search would seem to indicate the police received information from a person or persons directly involved in Ms. Kimura's disappearance.

Hi Zuzu, You are correct that ordinarily we would not name a minor like this. However, the linkRead More that we use to the NBC story about the 16-year-old goes to an on-camera interview with her where she's named, so we kept her name in since it's widely available at this point. But I'm removing it now from the Patch story. If people want to click through for more information, they can. Thanks for your comment, Emily

Emily, understandable. I didn't see her named it in print and thought it odd that it was here. WhyRead More NBC would name her, I don't know. Otherwise, good coverage by you guys and groovy gals. :)

Thanks, Zuzu. It's an awful story. They just announced he was shot in the back of the head.Read More http://bit.ly/14hFX2s

Let's not put down his friends for "not helping" as we aren't the police and don't knowRead More all details. We shouldn't wrongfully accuse these kids nor their parents. Let's not lose sight of the main goal here!

Brandon has been returned to us safely. His friends did know where he was and refused to help us. HeRead More was found in the presence of one of his "friends" who had previously lied to police and family. Thank you to those who have supported us and helped us bring him home safely.

Glad to hear he is home safe & sound. :-)

How can you be NOT GUILTY and ready to provide full restitution of missing funds. If I get arrestedRead More for shop lifting, do you think anyone will allow me to get off the hook if I decide to pay for the item I lifted before going to the court
RPS May 23, 2013 at 03:22 pm
I agree with Socrates above. What is wrong with our judicial system? She is a thief and shouldRead More have to pay for her crime whether she makes restitution or not! In addition, take away her pension, she does not deserve it.

I am completely OUTRAGED at the announcement of Ms. Salk's ruling! Kids understanding of what isRead More right and wrong and the repricusions that occur after a wrong-decision becomes compelety skewed in kid's minds. Julie should rot in jail and think twice about the bad choices as a supposed "role-model" to the BHS students.
