Band Camp Barrington Comes to McGonigal's

Band Camp will be performing at McGonigals on Saturday to Roslyn Road’s Race for the Cure team.

He brings his guitar, his smooth voice, and the love of a good time, and utilizes many ways of getting the whole crowd musically engaged. You may have caught his act at Kelsey Road house, or as the opener for the Brian Collins Band last year at McGonigals. This time around he has decided to be more generous to those crowd members who hunger to share the spotlight and steal his mic. He created an event, aptly named Band Camp, to combine the sounds of many Barrington musicians. A few, like me, are amateurs who can carry a tune or play an instrument. Chick-fil-A Could Soon Occupy Former Muddy Paws Site

Restaurant representatives are speaking with the village of Kildeer about building on the Muddy Paws site, the Daily Herald reports.

Chick-fil-A could soon be coming to Kildeer at the former site of Muddy Paws, the Daily Herald reports. Representatives of Chick-fil-A spoke before the Kildeer plan commission this week. Some concerns regarding building a restaurant on the site arose, including whether the layout would be big enough for emergency vehicles. Many residents also spoke out against the proposal, saying Chick-fil-A is not a wanted business in town, the newspaper reports.  Muddy Paws was torn down in two years ago, after thirty four dogs were found starved to death inside. Diane Eldrup was convicted of 18 felony counts of aggravated cruelty and 18 counts of animal torture for the incident.  She was sentenced to 18 months of periodic imprisonment in December of …

I personally don't particularly like the food at Chic Fil A, don't think it's that good - as far as the philosophy of the owner, if you don't like what he says or believes in, don't visit the establishment. Simple as that. I would worry more about ingress and egress from Route 12 given what the traffic is on that stretch of road.   more ›

Retiring at 50: Could You Follow This Woman's Extreme Savings Plan?

Here's the story of Marlene Konkoly, who found creative ways to spend less and save more so she can retire at 50. This story is the first in our series about Extreme Savers.

Americans may be living longer, but our retirement plans aren’t keeping up. Which means people are living longer with smaller bank accounts. But Marlene Konkoly will retire at age 50. And nearly a third of employees who had access to a defined contribution plan such as a 401(k) did not participate …
