Born October 8, 1924, Albert John Fritz passed away May 7, 2013 in Barrington, surrounded by his loving family. Albert graduated from eighth grade and went to stenography school, hoping to become a court reporter. During World War II, he served on Gen. Douglas MacArthur's staff in the Philippines, where he was wounded. After the war, he signed on at Schwinn, the booming bicycle company whose factories and offices dominated his old neighborhood. He stayed for 40 years, rising from the factory floor to the top ranks of management. When, early in his career, Fritz heard that Frank W. Koy is charged with neglecting eight horses at her home at 6102 Hillside Dr., Crystal Lake.
A Crystal Lake woman already on probation for several counts of cruelty to horses was arrested again Thursday and charged with four counts of cruel treatment. Jamie Koy, 39, 6102 E. Hillside, was arrested Thursday on animal neglect charges relating to horses in her care, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren. McHenry County Animal Control removed eight horses belonging to Koy from her Hillside Drive in Crystal Lake. The animals will be evaluated, given medical attention and will be placed with the Hooved Animal Humane Society, Nygren said in a release. The new charges against Koy are Class 4 Felonies. Born June 25, 1925 in Chicago, Robert C. Bedford of Barrington passed away April 23, 2013 in Des Plaines. Beloved husband of the late Eileen (nee McSweeney), loving father of Patrice Bedford, Chris (Mary) Bedford, and Paul (Emily) Bedford, dear grandfather of Julie (Jonathan) Byars, and Brian, Megan, Blake, and Brooke Bedford. Nicholas “Nick” James Wardrip, (16), of Barrington, passed away suddenly, April 12, 2013. He was born January 5, 1997 in Barrington to Russell and Camille Wardrip. Nicholas was a sophomore honor student at Barrington High School. He was a Life Boy Scout with Troop 21 of Barrington, where he was working towards his Eagle Scout award. He enjoyed playing his bass, video games, Boy Scout outings, camping and music. Nicholas will always be remembered as a loving, and caring son and friend with an ironic sense of humor, who made the world a better place to those who knew him. Walter T. Dorzweiler, 85, of Barrington passed away peacefully on April 4, 2013. He was born May 17, 1927 in Menasha, Wisconsin to Alois and Rose (nee Walters) Dorzweiler. On October 17, 1954 he married Doris Williams. Walter was honorably discharged from the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant after 3 years of service. After spending 4 years at the University of Wisconsin, he was with Kimberly-Clark for 15 years in sales. He then owned Lawn Equipment Distributers of Barrington for 15 years. Following this he remained in sales in the packaging industry. Edward Freidrich DeWitz, 91, of Barrington, passed away, March 28, 2013, at home. He was born on November 21, 1921, to Paul Freidrich and Elizabeth DeWitz in Elgin. Ed is survived by his sister, Fran Periman; brother, Roy (Barbara) DeWitz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Harold DeWitz, Paul DeWitz, and Casper DeWitz; step-brother, Edo Folkerts; sisters, Helen Polemarcus, Marjorie Hubbs, and Ladoiska Wright. Ed Dewitz passed away at the age of 91.
A frequent customer of McGonigal's Pub in Barrington has passed away, the Pub reports on its Facebook page. "This is sad news indeed...the world lost a great man today. Ed Dewitz was 91 years old, a WWII veteran and a good friend of many of us at the Pub. He was able to walk here a few times a week for the two Miller Lites that his doctor said he could have, and was always a joy to be around. There are so many great stories to tell about him, but suffice to say he was an amazing man and will be greatly missed. William “Bill” Chapman, 80, of Barrington, passed away, March 18, 2013, in Arlington Heights. He was born on January 19, 1933, to Earl and Janet Chapman in Waterloo, Iowa. Bill was a quiet and soft-spoken man who God blessed with the ability to understand and analyze numbers and financials. Throughout his professional life Bill used these gifts to support non-profit organizations.
