Pedestrian Killed by Metra Train on Union Pacific NW Line

The incident is causing train delays for passengers on the Union Pacific Northwest line.

A person is dead after being struck by a Metra train in Des Plaines.

The incident happened at 8:25 a.m. when Union Pacific Northwest train 632 struck a pedestrian near the Des Plaines train station. That train originated in McHenry at 7:39 a.m. and stopped in Barrington at 8:06 a.m. It is currently stopped in Des Plaines and is causing major delays for other trains as well. 

As of 10 a.m., trains 636, 638 and 611 are all stopped due to the incident in Des Plaines. Metra officials do not know when the trains will be running again.
