Police: DUI Crash Blocked Route 59

Barrington Police release information on the Route 59 road closure that occurred Saturday, Aug. 27.

A DUI crash caused Route 59 at the Canadian National Railway crossing to be blocked for four and a half hours Saturday morning. 

say the road was closed from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. after a drunk driver crashed into the railway signal pole. 

The signal pole sits over the roadway, and the railway felt there was danger that the pole could topple into traffic. Emergency repairs were ordered, and traffic was re-routed.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene of the crash for DUI.
