The team will take on Huntley High School on May 21 for the chance to compete in the sectional championships.
Barrington High School’s Girls Soccer Team is heading to the sectional semi-finals game tomorrow to take on Huntley High School, according to the IHSA website. The team beat Lake Zurich High School in the regional finals game to advance to the next level. The semi-finals game will be held May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Jacobs High School in Algonquin. The winner of the game will compete in the Algonquin (Jacobs) Sectional Championships on May 24. The Girls Soccer state finals are set for June 1.
The state finals will be held in Charleston next weekend, the IHSA reports.
Several Barrington High School athletes are heading to the Illinois High School Association Boys Track & Field state finals, the IHSA reports. Barrington soccer team was undefeated this season.
The FCX U17 Boys won its division last month, with a 7-0 record. This was the first FCX team to win all of its games. FCX is the High School Elite travel arm of the Barrington Area Soccer Association (BASA). "I have had teams win MRL divisions before, but to go 7 wins, 0 losses, 0 ties, sets a new level for all our other teams in MRL to try and aspire to. The boys deserve this for sure," Coach Stuart Peek said. "The boys have worked as a team throughout this campaign, many different players have stepped up. It is extremely difficult to be this consistent in this type of league, they have shown fortitude and a great mentality. I am very proud of this group. Barrington's Deloye Parker won the high jump to qualify for state at the 3A Track and Field sectional held at Buffalo Grove Thursday, May 16. Barrington had strong showing in several relays. Parker and Brandon Melynchuk, JP Brooks and Scotty Miler also took first place in the 4X200 relay (See second video in gallery). Barrington's 4X400 Relay team – Adam Phillips, John Andraschko, David Cerny, and Konrad Eiring and its 4X800 relay team – Phillips, Eiring, Cerny and Ryan Perkins – also took first place wins and will be headed to state. UPDATE, May 17: The Filles won the MSL Conference championship game against Buffalo Grove, Thursday night, 13-1. The girls scored six home runs. May 16 Barrington High School’s varsity softball team is having a phenomenal year. They are undefeated in MSL (Mid-Suburban League) Conference play, 16-0, and the team has a record of 28-1 overall. “The highlight of the season are the 13 girls themselves. Great group of people to work with and very mature in their day-to-day dealings with one another,” Coach Perry Peterson said. There are nine seniors on the team, three juniors and one sophomore. So far the team is hitting .389 for the year, with 300 runs scored and 34 runs allowed while on defense, Peterson said. The Fillies play Buffalo Grove …

Lake Zurich’s Chicago Bear impresses Coach Mark Trestman.
LZHS graduate Mark Blanchard was back at Chicago Bears mini-camp this past weekend. Blanchard joined the Bears last year as an undrafted free agent after participating in mini-camp. This year, Blanchard wore a helmet with a camera attached. The purpose of the experiment was to study what a quarterback sees as the play develops, according to the Chicago Tribune. Sports reporters are saying that Blanchard impressed new Bears head coach Mark Trestman. Blanchard came back in far better shape and displayed what coaches thought was comfort in the pocket, a better ability to throw the ball and high intelligence, according to Rant Sports. Eclipse Select Soccer Club defender Nicole Niro of Barrington had made up her mind that she wanted a change away from the Midwest to experience an education and college soccer career in the south. Niro will join a strong women’s soccer program and Division I college as she has committed to play for SEC program Auburn beginning in the fall of 2014. “It’s really exciting after starting soccer at such a young age and then building up to this point,” Niro said. “It’s definitely a milestone in my life and something I’m proud of. “I really wanted to go to a school in the south, and after hearing about Auburn from a friend I looked into that and visited,” Niro said. “It felt like Eclipse in the sense that it was family-oriented, warm and …
