Republican candidate David McSweeney won the 52nd House District race Tuesday night over independent candidate Dee Beabien. Opponent David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, filed the objection against Beaubien.
Dee Beaubien, the Independent candidate for the 52nd House District race, will appear on the ballot for the upcoming election following a ruling Monday by the Illinois State Board of Elections. The State Board of Elections voted unanimously in favor of keeping Beaubien on the ballot. Opponent David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, filed the objection with the state board of elections, arguing Beaubien should not appear on the ballot as an independent because she signed petitions for Republican candidates during the March primary, according to the Northwest Herald.
