The popular art festival will take place May 25-26.
Barrington Art Festival will kick off the summer season in town this weekend. The annual event featuring various mediums of art from more than 130 artists worldwide will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Barrington Saturday, May 25 through Sunday, May 26. The Barrington High School Fine Arts Department presents: "Guys and Dolls" this weekend at the Barrington High School Auditorium. The show is one of the most performed musicals in the United States, according to BroadwayMusicalHome.com. What would happen if the characters from the PBS show Sesame Street grew up and went a little wild? That’s the premise behind Avenue Q, a Tony Award-winning musical coming to Palatine's Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center. From June 2 to 17, Music on Stage will present the Chicagoland premiere of Avenue Q, a comedy intended for adult audiences that features the use of puppets by the actors. The musical tells the story of Princeton, a recent college graduate who moves to New York and meets several colorful characters along the way. Two Barrington High School students have been named finalists for the Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards, or IHSMTA The IHSMTA are the Illinois chapter of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Broadway In Chicago is committed to emerging performers, and is thrilled to highlight the talent of Illinois students. As a chapter of the National program, The IHSMTA is a celebration of outstanding student achievement in high school musical theater. For a guy who claims not to like coffee, Steve McClintock who, with his sister Holly Bowling, owns Cook Street Coffee, certainly knows the way to a coffee drinker's heart. "We make the best coffee in town," he said with confidence. McClintock's passion for creating the perfect café seems equaled by his love of the arts. When redesigning the former Caribou Coffee, he brought in artists and artisans to assist with the project. "The paint is three-dimensional," he said, touching the wall behind him, which is crafted to look more like subtle wood grain than plaster.
