Although many people picture Christmas as a time for simple pleasures, quite often the immense amount of work that needs to be done swallows up the simplicity and before you know it, Christmas has come and gone once more. Calling all sweet tooths! Barrington is about to get a sweet new store in town. SweetPea Cakes, a couture cake and cupcake boutique, is hoping to be open in downtown Barrington by late November. Carrie Curie, the owner and mastermind behind the gourmet cake creations, said she is looking forward to opening in Barrington and getting to know the community. She opened her first SweetPea Cakes store in downtown Crystal Lake in January of this year and knew with the success she was having, she wanted to expand to other nearby communitites.
