The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will present “The State of Lake County” Monday, March 18 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at The Garlands of Barrington Performing Arts Centre, 1000 Garlands Lane in Barrington. The event is the first in the Chamber's 2013 “Bagels, Politics & Biz” Breakfast discussion series. Scheduled speakers are Lake County Board members Nick Sauer (Dist. 17) and Craig Taylor (Dist. 19); and Michael Stevens, President/CEO of Lake County Partners. Sauer and Taylor will address such topics as the county budget, transportation issues, Lake County PASSAGE, taxes, the county's strategic plan and volunteer opportunities in the region. The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will host its first Networking Open House Extravaganza on Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Millrose Restaurant, 45 Barrington Rd. in South Barrington. The event is free and open to members, their guests, and business owners who want to learn more about the Chamber. Complimentary appetizers and spirits will be served. Premier Publishing, Inc. is accused of selling false advertisements to businesses, claiming they will be distributed to Biltmore Country Club members, Club Manager Bill Dewey said.
A warning has been issued to businesses in the Barrington and Lake Zurich area regarding a Florida-based publishing company that is allegedly selling false advertisements to area businesses, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce said. Biltmore Country Club Manager Bill Dewey said Premier Publishing, Inc. based in Boca Raton Fla., is selling print advertisements to businesses, claiming they will be distributed to Biltmore's members. “We do not do that for anybody,” Dewey said. “We don’t forward anything on regarding our membership.” According to Better Business Bureau’s website, Premier Publishing, Inc. has been a BBB accredited business since May 27, 2011 and has a B+ rating. Joyce Palmquist of the Barrington Area Council on Aging was named the winner at the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce's Barrington Bliss Holiday ATHENA Award Luncheon on Nov. 15.
It looked like a winter wonderland when walking into Pinstripes in South Barrington Thursday. Christina Currie of Christina Currie Events, Inc. set the stage for the beautiful Barrington Bliss Holiday Luncheon to honor the nominees of the group's first annual ATHENA award. Joyce Palmquist of the Barrington Area Council on Aging was named the winner out of eight nominees. According to the ATHENA International website, the award was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment. Recipients of the award embody the following qualities: Barrington 2012 nominees include: Congratulations to the nominees and to Joyce Palmquist for winning the ATHENA award.

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Sidewalk days returns this weekend from July 26 through 28. "It's one of the biggest events of the year for the Barrington community," Janet Meyer, Executive Director of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce said.
