Whole Foods Market packed with customers on opening day.
Kildeer Village President Nandia Black declared Wednesday, March 6, Whole Foods Day, at the opening of the store. The store opened with a breaking bread ceremony. As customers entered the store, Whole Foods employees cheered them on. Customers appreciated the larger store and more shopping options than the Palatine location, Whole Foods' home for 15 years. Tammy Swiderek of Palatine said the new store is a little farther, yet still convenient, and will carry many more items. Many regular and new Whole Foods customers made some discoveries. New grocery is about 10,000 square feet larger than Palatine location.
The new Whole Foods Market, 20281 N. Rand Rd., Kildeer, will open on March 6. The destination grocer, focusing on organic and sustainable products, will hold an Opening Ceremony and doors will open at 9 a.m. Kildeer Village Manager Michael Talbett said Whole Foods store openings are a big event with people waiting in line for hours to get in. The brand new Northwest Highway store opened for business Nov. 13.
Dozens of community members gathered at 906 S. Northwest Highway Tuesday morning to welcome the newest business to town. John Brown officially opened his new ACE Hardware store to the public at 8 a.m. Nov. 13. The store is located in the former Fisher Nut building near Makray Golf Course. Crowds cheered as Brown, along with village President Karen Darch, cut the grand opening ribbon with a pair of garden sheers. The Orchard Evangelical Free Church is set to hold a grand opening on Jan. 9.
Where Health World once was, now stands The Orchard. The Evangelical Free Church opened its doors on Grove Avenue last month, and is now inviting everyone to the grand opening on Sunday, Jan. 9. Director of Communications Ruth Guillaume says the building has changed a great deal since its days as a children's museum. “People will see a dramatic change to the building,” she said. “The building itself, the interior, is greatly transformed.” Tours will be given to visitors between the two worship services offered on Sunday.
