Gymnast Abby Hanasov Places in Top 10 at State Meet

The Barrington High School freshman placed 7th in the all-around competition.

  Barrington High School Freshman Abby Hanasov proved she has what it takes to compete at the high school level this weekend at the Illinois High School Association state finals.  Hanasov placed 7th in the all-around competition at Palatine High School. She was the youngest gymnast in the top 10, with a score of 37.575, according to the IHSA.  Her strongest apparatus was the vault, earning a score of 9.675, and her lowest scoring event was the floor exercise, scoring 9.050. Barrington's Abby Hanasov to Compete in Gymnastics State Finals

The freshman gymnast will compete in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise competitions this weekend.

  Congratulations to Barrington High School’s Abby Hanasov. The freshman gymnast has qualified for the state finals in four events. Hanasov did well at Feb. 4’s sectional at Fremd High School. She placed 25th in the all-around competition, took 10th on vault, 10th on uneven bars and 11th on floor exercise, according to the Illinois State Gymnastics Stats website. She will compete in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise routines at the state finals on Feb. 15 and 16 at Palatine High School.

Several Sports Teams End Season With Medals

The final installment, of the multipart series, that looks back on how the 2011 spring season finished for the Broncos and Fillies.

Boys’ Track The Bronco’s 3200 meter relay team was off and running to start the season, and they didn’t stop until they reached the podium to collect their silver medal at the IHSA state meet held at Eastern Illinois University.  Double state qualifier junior Eric Peterson (also ran the 1600 meter run but failed to advance to the finals) and senior Eric Schneider (ran the 4 x 400 relay with teammates senior Terrence Thomas, Tim Jaderholm and Dale Jno-Baptiste that also failed to qualify for the finals 3:20.47) took home the silver medal with seniors Karl Eiring and Pat Managan in the 4 x 800 with a record time for Barrington (7:44.87).  The relay team had sliced off more than four seconds from their preliminary run but couldn’t out race …
