Barrington Soccer Team Heads to Sectional Semi-Finals

The team will take on Huntley High School on May 21 for the chance to compete in the sectional championships.

Barrington High School’s Girls Soccer Team is heading to the sectional semi-finals game tomorrow to take on Huntley High School, according to the IHSA website. The team beat Lake Zurich High School in the regional finals game to advance to the next level. The semi-finals game will be held May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Jacobs High School in Algonquin.  The winner of the game will compete in the Algonquin (Jacobs) Sectional Championships on May 24. The Girls Soccer state finals are set for June 1.

Barrington Swimmers Place at State Meet

The team placed in five events at the Feb. 22-23 meet at New Trier High School.

The Barrington High School Swimming and Diving team placed 12th at the Illinois High School Association State Meet this weekend at New Trier High School. Two athletes placed in individual events. Senior Kyle Ujiiye took 5th place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of :50.16, and senior Jack Strauss placed 9th the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :46.36. Strauss and Ujiiye, along with their teammates, had two more  9th place finishes at the meet: the 200 and 400-yard relays. Strauss, Ujiiye, Sam Miseyka and Sebastian Piekarski had a time of 1:25.69 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Michael Rappleye Named All-State Academic Team Honorable Mention

The Barrington High School student was selected out of hundreds of athletes state-wide.

  Barrington High School's Michael Rappleye has been given the honor of All-State Academic Team honorable mention the the Illinois High School Association.  Rappleye was chosen from a group that included over 450 students throughout the state. Nominees needed to possess a minimum 3.50 grade point average on 4.0 scale after their 7th semester, have participated in at least two IHSA sponsored sports or activities during each of the last two years and demonstrated outstanding citizenship, according to the IHSA website. The 26 All-State Academic Team members will be honored at a banquet at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington on April 15, 2013.

Barrington Boys Swimmers Take Sectionals

BHS will compete at the state championship at New Trier over the weekend.

Barrington came out in front at the swimming and diving sectionals held at Barrington High School this weekend. Team scores were: Barrington 272, Stevenson 212, Fremd 172, Cary-Grove Coop 158, Hoffman Estates 110, according to the IHSA website.  BHS won the 400-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay. Kyle Ujiye won the 100-yard butterfly. Other state qualifiers include Jack Strauss, 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle; Ethan Meister, diving; Brandon Baranowski, 100-yard backstroke; Sam Miseyka, 100-yard  breast stroke; and Connor Kobida, 100-yard  breast stroke.  The relay teams consisted of Strauss, Ujiye, Chris Vega, Piekarski, Miseyka, Baranowski. Barrington's Ben Calamari Places 5th at Wrestling State Meet

The BHS senior defeated a Marmion Academy wrestler to take fifth in the 285-pound weight class.

  Congratulations to Barrington High School senior Ben Calamari, who placed fifth in his weight class at the wrestling state finals last weekend in Champaign.  The wrestler defeated Aurora's Alex Fritz of Marmion Academy 3-1 to claim the title, according to the Illinois High School Association.  Four other Barrington wrestlers qualified for the state finals but did not place:

Gymnast Abby Hanasov Places in Top 10 at State Meet

The Barrington High School freshman placed 7th in the all-around competition.

  Barrington High School Freshman Abby Hanasov proved she has what it takes to compete at the high school level this weekend at the Illinois High School Association state finals.  Hanasov placed 7th in the all-around competition at Palatine High School. She was the youngest gymnast in the top 10, with a score of 37.575, according to the IHSA.  Her strongest apparatus was the vault, earning a score of 9.675, and her lowest scoring event was the floor exercise, scoring 9.050. Barrington's Abby Hanasov to Compete in Gymnastics State Finals

The freshman gymnast will compete in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise competitions this weekend.

  Congratulations to Barrington High School’s Abby Hanasov. The freshman gymnast has qualified for the state finals in four events. Hanasov did well at Feb. 4’s sectional at Fremd High School. She placed 25th in the all-around competition, took 10th on vault, 10th on uneven bars and 11th on floor exercise, according to the Illinois State Gymnastics Stats website. She will compete in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise routines at the state finals on Feb. 15 and 16 at Palatine High School.

Five Barrington High School Wrestlers Qualify for State Finals

The athletes qualified for state at a sectional tournament at Barrington High School on Feb. 9.

  Congratulations to the five Barrington High School wrestlers qualified for the state tournament this weekend, according to IHSA results.  The athletes will now compete at the state wrestling tournament, which will be held Feb. 14 to 16 at Assembly Hall in Champaign.

Barrington Cheerleaders Take Second at State Meet

The high school's co-ed team won second place at the IHSA championships in Bloomington this weekend.

  Congratulations to the Barrington High School cheerleading team who took second place at the Illinois High School Association State Finals this weekend. The team lost to Buffalo Grove, who won the competition. Grant High School in Fox Lake came in third place, the Daily Herald reports. The team was ecstatic to hear of their second place win. Barrington Wrestlers to Compete at Lake Zurich Saturday

The team will take on Buffalo Grove, Cary-Grove, Deerfield, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Zurich, Palatine and Stevenson.

  The Barrington High School wrestling squad will compete in a very important meet at Lake Zurich on Saturday, Feb. 2. The top three individuals will advance into sectionals at Barrington next weekend, and the team champion will head to the dual-team sectional, the Daily Herald reports. Barrington will face off against Buffalo Grove, Cary-Grove, Deerfield, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Zurich, Palatine and Stevenson. The Daily Herald reports Kevin Conrad in the 132-weight class and Ben Calamari in the 285-weight class are two Barrington wrestlers to watch.  The state individual tournament will be held Feb. 14-16 in Champaign, while the dual-team state tournament is scheduled for Feb. 23 in Bloomington.  The Feb. 2 meet starts at 9 a.m.
