No Drugs, Weapons Found During Lake County Jail Sweep
The Lake County Sheriff's Office and K-9 units from 14 Lake County agencies conducted a sweep Thursday of the Lake County Jail.
"Inmates, keep your hands on the table! Don't talk to anyone and stay away from the dogs." Those orders were given to groups of inmates in the Lake County Jail this morning as officers from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Response Team (CRT) and officers with K9s from 14 agencies throughout Lake County searched the jail for contraband. Inmates were brought out into common areas so that officers with dogs could search their rooms. Then each inmate received a pat down by hand before returning to his or her cell. Participating agencies with K9 units included those from the Patch communities of Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake, Highland Park and Niles. Bringing in outside agencies provides checks and balances, and is a great idea -- it provides those agencies and their K9s some real life training opportunities as well. Maybe Richard Heineman prefers corrections officers to sit and drink coffee all day; not me. Inmates gave up their right to be free from "harassment".   more ›
