Fatal Prom Crash Simulation at LZHS

Lake Zurich Fire Department, Flight for Life demonstrate powerful message on the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A Flight for Life helicopter, vehicle extraction and two fatalities sent a powerful message to Lake Zurich High School teens, Wednesday afternoon. In preparation for the upcoming prom, Lake Zurich High School juniors and attended “Operation Prom Night,” with a simulated crash scene that demonstrates the tragic results that could occur when a person makes the decision to drive under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. The program was a joint effort of the Lake Zurich Fire Department, Barrington Fire Department, Long Grove Fire Department, Wauconda Fire Department, Lake Zurich Police Department, Kildeer Police Department, Hawthorn Woods Police Department, and Flight for Life. Deer Park Basement Fire Quickly Extinguished

Lake Zurich Fire Rescue responded to fire on Sumac Court this morning.

A basement fire in Deer Park, this morning, was extinguished within 10 minutes of firefighter's arrival on the scene, however the home had significant smoke damage, according to David Pilgard, of Lake Zurich Fire Rescue. Lake Zurich responded to 21452 Sumac Court in Deer Park, at 9:06 a.m., after homeowners smelled smoke. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the first-due officer reported visible smoke from the first floor front door with all occupants and animals accounted for, according to the news release from Lake Zurich Fire Rescue. Upon entering the lower level, the fire officer reported that a sectional couch was on fire. UPDATE: One Person Killed in Route 12 Crash

Kildeer Police are still investigating the accident on Route 12 near Quentin Road.

UPDATE, 8 p.m.: The driver of a vehicle involved in the accident at Route 12 and Quentin Road was pronounced dead at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Kildeer Police Chief Lou Rossi confirmed the fatality in a press release issued just before 8 p.m. The identity of the individual has not yet been released. Rossi said Route 12 between Quentin and West Cuba Roads was closed for about three and a half hours as police and fire personnel responded to — and then investigated — the four-vehicle accident. I agree a little inconvince is worth it when it is because of a bad accident. the police and firefighter saftey is a risk besifes trying to get the ibjurued out fast. police need to find out what happen. i do wish that more officers or personnel was give more directions on thr rerouting for those not knowing the area my husband got lost but a small matter. i pray for everyone any word on what …   more ›
