Once upon a time, green beer (perhaps Miller with green dye) was all the rage for St. Patrick's Day. Today, Guinness is likely the most popular Irish brew. But there are others that may please your taste buds more. Barrington Patch stopped by McGonigal's Pub in Barrington and spoke to manager Ismini Walsh (and with a name like Walsh you can bet she knows about Irish brews). Third annual festival has grown to be one of the biggest in the suburbs.

The Village of Barrington continues to cultivate and support its wonderful community, and for the third straight year it will play host to the largest St. Patrick’s Day event in the suburban Chicagoland area. From Friday March 15 through Sunday March 17 the 3rd annual Barrington Celtic Fest will take place on the 200 block Park Avenue, just East of South Cook Street, and at McGonigal’s Pub along with its new addition, The Annex. The three day festival officially begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 15, and features a huge heated tent erected over a good portion of Park Avenue, so patrons can enjoy the celebration outdoors without worries about the fickle March weather.
