"Mother Nature's Child: Growing Outdoors in a Media Age" will be shown at Da Vinci Waldorf School, Saturday, Feb. 16, 10 a.m. to noon. Da Vinci Waldorf School is located at 150 W. Bonner Rd., Wauconda.   This film explores nature's powerful role in children's health and development through the experience of toddlers, children in middle childhood and adolescents. It asks the questions: Why do children need unstructured time outside? What is the place of risk-taking in healthy child development? How is play a form of learning? Weather's impact on events.

Where was this sunshine that we are seeing and feeling today over the weekend?   The rain, cold and wind put a damper on a number of events on Saturday and Sunday.  Once again, Mother Nature proved that she is the ultimate event planner.  She has taught me three big things over the course of my 21 year career: I can not control her, I can always plan for her and sometimes, regardless of what I think the alternative plan is, she has another idea.
