Roots 2 on Park Avenue in downtown Barrington is an urban twist on an old-fashioned general store, offering artisan food, beer, wine and custom art.

"Our bloody Mary section is second to none," says owner Todd Rhodes. Bloody Mary supplies include Bennys Beef Straw.  "It's our view of what a general store would be. We have tons of food items," Rhodes said. Roots 2 is Todd and Joy Rhodes' second store in downtown Barrington. They also own the rock and Americana store, Grassroots. Barrington residents craving fresh fish for dinner won't have to look far. There's a a new seafood market now open in Barrington, and owners say they're selling the freshest fish in town.  Saida's Fresh Seafood Market & Café, a family-owned-and-operated establishment, recently opened in Barrington at 421 N. Northwest Highway.  It is located in the space formerly occupied by Entertaining Tuna. Saida and Ernesto Candia, the owners of Saida's, are no strangers to the seafood business.  The couple used to work at Diamond Seafood in Lake Barrington, so they said it seemed natural to open up a similar shop in Barrington.  "I worked for years in Lake Barrington and most customers know me and my husband," Saida Candia said.
