Road Work Starts in Barrington, Lake Zurich Area

Hart Road to be resurfaced and made safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.

  In the coming weeks, the Lake County Division of Transportation will be out in the Lake Zurich, Barrington, Wauconda area resurfacing and improving several county roadways.  Lake County Dist. 17 Rep. Nick Sauer asks that residents spread the news about these upcoming projects and the benefit their improved condition will have for the area.  Sauer suggests residents plan ahead for these projects.    The projects currently planned for construction/repaving in this area include:  Miller Road Work to correct a chronic road flooding problem will take place this year with Lake County DOT elevating Miller Road and constructing a three span bridge just east of IL Route 59. District 220 Board of Education Candidates Named

The official list of candidates for the April 2013 election has been released.

  Four seats are open on the Barrington 220 Board of Education this year. All available positions are four-year terms. Penny Kazmier and Sandra Ficke-Bradford will both seek re-election in April, while Tim Hull has decided not to seek another term. The fourth open seat belonged to Nick Sauer. Sauer was elected to the Lake County Board in November. His position is currently being filled by interim board member Cara Richardson. Tower Lakes resident Sophia Chen-deVries, Lake Barrington resident Christopher Geier and Barrington residents Jerry Keaton and Wendy Farley are the remaining candidates seeking election to the board.

Sauer Resigns from School Board, New Member Sought

Sauer resigned after being elected to the Lake County Board. A new member will be appointed to serve until the term ends in 2013.

  The Barrington 220 Board of Education expressed gratitude to Nick Sauer, who has served on the board since his election in the spring of 2009. Sauer resigned his seat on the Board of Education effective Nov. 14 following his successful election to the Lake County Board of Commissioners, serving District 17. President Brian Battle and his board colleagues commended Sauer for his dedicated representation of students, staff and residents during his productive tenure in Barrington 220.  Sauer, who is also a graduate of Barrington High School, reflected on his long association with the school district, crediting his formative years as both a student and a leader with preparing him for the next chapter in his public service career. Editor's note: The following was written by Nick Sauer, Barrington resident and candidate for Lake County Board, District 17.   Illinois needs to balance its books. The state is poorly managed and Springfield's politicians are solely responsible for the financial catastrophe that now exists. Spending at the State Capitol has gone unabridged for decades, shows no sign of slowing and served as the foundation for recent monumental tax increases and massive borrowing. Politicians cutting back on pet projects or reducing programs lobbied for by special interest groups are unlikely. Endorsements Pile Up for Nick Sauer in Lake County Board Race

Sauer, a Republican, is running for the seat being vacated by Stevenson Mountsier.
