DUIs and Traffic Arrests: Barrington Police Blotter

  DUI Brendan T. Moratz, 27, of 611 S. Division St., Barrington, was arrested for DUI, BAC over .08, leaving the scene of property damage accident, no insurance and no driver’s license on person after being involved in an accident at 312 S. Hager Ave., May 6. He was released on bond and given a Cook County court date of June 20. Jeffrey M. Jackman, 44, of 284 Donlea Rd., Barrington, was arrested for DUI, no insurance and failure to notify secretary of state of address change at Division St. and Russell St., May 6. Candy-Powered Cars Are the Future! A Chicago man was charged with disorderly conduct after he placed a candy bar in his ex-girlfriend's gas tank. Caught Red Handed With Matching Eye Shadow A Prospect Heights woman was charged with retail theft at Golf Mill Mall after a security agent observed her taking cosmetics and makeup from a store display, putting them into her purse and exiting the store without paying. Security recovered 28 items worth $425 on the scene. …

Police Blotter: Report of Teens Selling Drugs

  Report of Teens Selling Drugs Police responded to Langendorf Park, 235 Lions Drive, May 3, for a report of high school-age teens offering to sell drugs to middle school-age children. The incident involved four high school boys and four middle school boys. Barrington Assistant Police Chief Dave Dorn said police are continuing to investigate the incident.   Theft of Planters Three large concrete planters were removed from the front of 110 West Northwest Highway, April 29. Tractor Ignition Key Stolen Police took a theft report, April 30, in the 700 block of North Cumnor Avenue when a resident reported the ignition key had been taken from a garden tractor.  Credit Card Fraud A resident of the 700 block of Prospect Avenue reported their …

I'll Put $50 On Him Finishing Last in the Trifecta A Chicago man was charged with felony retail theft after he tried leaving Golf Mill Mall with two boxes of cologne under his jacket. Security guards tried to stop the man, but he swung a fist at the security guard's face, trying to strike, but missed.  He ran out of the mall, pursued by security guards, and dropped his jacket with the cologne in the parking lot while running. He ran into the front doors of the off-track betting facility located in a mall outlot, and then ran out the back doors near the kitchen. Computer Scam A computer scam was reported, April 15, in the 100 block of South Northwest Highway, when a resident reported a computer virus from a chat site that demanded money to remove the virus. Theft of Copper Tubing Theft of copper tubing from a construction site was reported, April 16, located in the 100 block of South Cook Street. The copper was valued at $5,000 or more.
