BMS Prairie Students Present Little Mermaid

See who's on the cast and crew from Barrington Middle School-Prairie.

  Barrington Middle School Prairie Campus presents The Little Mermaid Junior April 18 - 20 at 7 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Prairie Campus school, 40 East Dundee Road, Barrington.  Disney’s The Little Mermaid Junior is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney Film and is adapted from the 2008 Broadway production.   In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the fun-loving young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above.  But first, she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice.  The student cast and crew are hard at work preparing a fabulous show for all ages.  The students will …

Barrington's Sarah Tenyer Wins Girls Bowling Championship

Prairie eighth-grader sets three records.

Congratulations to Barrington Prairie Middle School's Sarah Tenyer, who not only won the Illinois State Championship for Girls Bowling, but also set three records. Sarah won the IESA (Illinois Elementary School Association) title with a total of 2,005 pins, the weekend of March 22-23. Sarah set records for:   Sarah is looking forward to bowling for Barrington High School next year, said Sarah's mom, Denise Tenyer.

Prairie Middle School's Tech Lab Given Prestigious Honor

The Technology Education Program taught by Steve Taylor and Gary Rizzio was named the 2012 Program of the Year by the Technology Education Association of Illinois.

When it comes to technology education, Barrington’s Prairie Middle School is top dog. The school’s Technology Education Program has been named the 2012 Program of the Year by the Technology Education Association of Illinois. According to District 220, the award recognizes a technology education program that provides fundamental knowledge about the development of technology and its effect on people, the environment and culture. “[Tech Lab] It’s a hands on application that focuses on connecting science technology and mathematics under one content,” explained Technology Education co-teacher Steve Taylor. “So we kind of break down the walls of the traditional classroom… all the activities we have are 21st century authentic activities.
