Rihanna thanked the Barrington students for waiting, but she never actually said "I'm sorry," at the student assembly after arriving three and one-half hours late.
Was Rihanna, whose newest release is titled "Unapologetic," truly unapologetic after arriving at Barrington High School three and one-half hours late, for her scheduled visit, Friday? Rihanna did thank the students for waiting for her. "That means a lot to me," she said. Prior to arriving, Principal Steve McWilliams reported that Rihanna was apologetic for running late. Rihanna also provided more than $2,500 in concert tickets and other giveaways while everyone waited for her arrival, according to Barrington 220 on Facebook. Wait for pop star too long for some, others say it was worth it.
A gym packed with teens and some adults waited more than three hours for Rihanna to come to the school, Friday, as part of a nationwide video contest. Scheduled for 2 p.m., Rihanna arrived after 5:30 p.m. She thanked the students for waiting for her. "That means a lot to me," she said. Prior to arriving, Principal Steve McWilliams said Rihanna was apologetic for running late. "I wanted to come because I was so impressed and very touched by your video. I wanted to express that in person," Rihanna said. She said she was most impressed that the students aren't just raising money for their own efforts, but are reaching out to people outside the school. The pop-star will visit the school on March 22, thanks to the BHS-TV students award winning video.
Recording artist Rihanna is tentatively scheduled to visit Barrington High School Friday, March 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. She will recognize students whose music video to her song, “Shine Bright Like a Diamond,” was selected in a nationwide contest. The video highlights the charitable efforts of students and organizations in the Barrington High School community. Rihanna will speak to a live audience of students and staff, answering questions from a program host and recognizing individuals and groups who were included in the music video. The pop-star will make an appearance at the school next month, thanks to BHS-TV's "Shine Bright Like a Diamond" video.
All of the efforts from students involved with Barrington High School's BHS-TV program will finally pay off next month. It's been confirmed that pop-star Rihanna will visit the school on March 22, which is the first day of spring break, District 220 reports. BHS-TV created an inspiring video highlighting the volunteer and philanthropic efforts students that won a nation-wide contest sponsored by Rihanna. Members of the television production class created a video showcasing volunteer efforts at BHS that won a nation-wide contest.
Barrington High School students shine bright like a diamond, and it shows. Members of BHS-TV created an inspiring video highlighting the volunteer and philanthropic efforts of BHS students that won a nation-wide contest sponsored by pop-star Rihanna. The school beat out 52 other entries. The grand prize: A visit from the singer herself. “We saw the contest and thought it was a really good idea, especially because Barrington is so philanthropic,” Peter Chung, a BHS-TV member said. “It took about a month to put it together, but it was probably dozens of hours…it was a very tedious process.” The video showcasing the thousands of dollars students have raised for charity, and hundreds of hours they’ve volunteered, has 4,163 hits on YouTube. …
