Former Barrington Football Stars Help Clinch FCS Title

Barrington High School graduates Sam Ojuri and Ben LeCompte helped North Dakota State win the national championship this weekend.

  One hit pay dirt twice and another took his turn. Former Barrington High School football standouts Sam Ojuri and Ben LeCompte earned their second-straight national championship with the North Dakota State Bison on Saturday, Jan. 5.  “Playing in a FCS title game was a dream come true,” LeCompte said. “Winning was just the cherry on the top,” he added.  “The feeling you get when the clock hits all zeros is indescribable.” Though the game had a déjà vu feel with the same teams and location, both former Barrington stars made unique impacts in the Bison’s 39-13 win. Former Barrington Football Standouts Gain National Championship

Ojuri, LeCompte took part in North Dakota State’s Division I Football Championship Series title run.

  Sam Ojuri and Ben LeCompte, two former Barrington football stars, can call themselves national champions. Their North Dakota State Bison claimed the 2011-2012 NCAA Division I Football Championship Series crown with a 17-6 over Sam Houston State in Frisco, TX, on Saturday. “To be a part of a national title team my freshmen year is unreal,” LeCompte said. “There's no words to describe it. I couldn’t ask for a better place to play football. The city of Fargo and their fans give you as much love as anywhere else in the country. It's been a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” LeCompte didn’t see playing time in the game as a freshman punter, but his senior counterpart Matt Voigtlander had a few heroic moments at punter for the Bison on Saturday. …

LITH's Ojuri Bolsters NDS Football Championship Run In Texas

Sam Ojuri's resurgence at running back has helped North Dakota State reach its first NCAA Division I Football Championship game scheduled for Saturday.

  Sam Ojuri, of Lake in the Hills, has rejuvenated his college career and now has a shot at a national college football championship this Saturday, Jan. 7. “I promised myself when I got back I would do the best I can to show the coaches they recruited the right person,” Ojuri told the Daily Herald. “I wanted to exceed my expectations and their high expectations.” Ojuri, a redshirt sophomore running back at Division-I North Dakota State University in Fargo, made up for a missed 2010 season with a bang in 2011.
