Rihanna Says She's Impressed with BHS Students Reaching Out
Wait for pop star too long for some, others say it was worth it.
A gym packed with teens and some adults waited more than three hours for Rihanna to come to the school, Friday, as part of a nationwide video contest. Scheduled for 2 p.m., Rihanna arrived after 5:30 p.m. She thanked the students for waiting for her. "That means a lot to me," she said. Prior to arriving, Principal Steve McWilliams said Rihanna was apologetic for running late. "I wanted to come because I was so impressed and very touched by your video. I wanted to express that in person," Rihanna said. She said she was most impressed that the students aren't just raising money for their own efforts, but are reaching out to people outside the school. Barrington 220 students were amazing as they waited patiently. No one wanted to be there waiting hours and hours, but the students were awesome. I am a staff member who volunteered to be there, it was a long wait for sure, but the quality of our staff and students makes 220 a great place to be!   more ›
