Tuesday is shaping up to be a messy day in northern Illinois. A winter storm watch is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening in Boone, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee and McHenry Counties. The National Weather Service in Chicago says the entire area could see more than 6 inches of snow. The snowfall could be heavy at times, according to the National Weather Service. The Barrington area is expected to get another blast of wintry weather today. Accuweather.com reports the village will get three to six inches of snow Thursday evening through Friday afternoon. While most people prepare for driving safely in the snow, rarely to people think about keeping safe while walking in icy conditions. "Every winter the hazards of driving in snow and icy conditions are noted, but rarely is walking on snow and ice addressed," said Martin B. Get ready for more snow! A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday for all of northern Illinois, including the following counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will. The National Weather Service in Chicago says the snow should develop by Thursday evening and continue into Friday, with snowfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches expected. "A period of heavy snow with snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour is possible late Thursday evening into the overnight hours," according to the National Weather Service.
