The team will take on Huntley High School on May 21 for the chance to compete in the sectional championships.
Barrington High School’s Girls Soccer Team is heading to the sectional semi-finals game tomorrow to take on Huntley High School, according to the IHSA website. The team beat Lake Zurich High School in the regional finals game to advance to the next level. The semi-finals game will be held May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Jacobs High School in Algonquin. The winner of the game will compete in the Algonquin (Jacobs) Sectional Championships on May 24. The Girls Soccer state finals are set for June 1.
The state finals will be held in Charleston next weekend, the IHSA reports.
Several Barrington High School athletes are heading to the Illinois High School Association Boys Track & Field state finals, the IHSA reports. The Barrington High School Sophomore Boys Basketball team finished their successful season by winning the Conference Tournament Championship. The sophomores went 19-5, 7-3 in conference and were the champions of the Cougar Classic and the Prairie Ridge Thanksgiving Tournament. The team went 13-1 in January and February. They beat Fremd 46 to 36 in the Championship Game at Conant High School. Their overall record was 19 - 5. The Barrington High School Swimming and Diving team placed 12th at the Illinois High School Association State Meet this weekend at New Trier High School. Two athletes placed in individual events. Senior Kyle Ujiiye took 5th place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of :50.16, and senior Jack Strauss placed 9th the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :46.36. Strauss and Ujiiye, along with their teammates, had two more 9th place finishes at the meet: the 200 and 400-yard relays. Strauss, Ujiiye, Sam Miseyka and Sebastian Piekarski had a time of 1:25.69 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Registration for the 36th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon is open to the first 45,000 entrants. Will Barrington residents be among them?
For running enthusiasts hoping to register for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this week, technical difficulties have temporarily halted runner registration. Registration opened Tuesday for the 26.2-mile race, which begins and ends in Grant Park, but ended shortly after due to errors with the online registration process. "We have been working nonstop with our registration provider to find the root of the problem and a solution. Many runners were able to sign up before the registration process was suspended. There are currently 15,000 entries remaining. Before we re-open registration, we need to make sure all technical issues are permanently resolved. Barrington High School's Michael Rappleye has been given the honor of All-State Academic Team honorable mention the the Illinois High School Association. Rappleye was chosen from a group that included over 450 students throughout the state. Nominees needed to possess a minimum 3.50 grade point average on 4.0 scale after their 7th semester, have participated in at least two IHSA sponsored sports or activities during each of the last two years and demonstrated outstanding citizenship, according to the IHSA website. The 26 All-State Academic Team members will be honored at a banquet at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington on April 15, 2013.

Congratulations to Barrington High School’s Abby Hanasov. The freshman gymnast has qualified for the state finals in four events. Hanasov did well at Feb. 4’s sectional at Fremd High School. She placed 25th in the all-around competition, took 10th on vault, 10th on uneven bars and 11th on floor exercise, according to the Illinois State Gymnastics Stats website. She will compete in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise routines at the state finals on Feb. 15 and 16 at Palatine High School.
