Alicia Leszko, Nutrition and Dining Manger, Prairieview at The Garlands, received the 2013 Rising Star Award from Life Services Network of Illinois (LSN). The award is given to employees and organizations in the older adult industry that “put quality first, deliver excellence and inspire others to do the same.” Prairieview residents appreciate the enthusiastic, customer-service focus that Leszko brings to assisted living dining. U.S. News and World Report ranked 15,000 nursing homes throughout the nation.
Two Barrington nursing homes received stamps of approval in the recently released U.S. News and World Reports Best Nursing Homes rankings. Prairieview Nursing Unit at The Garlands, 6000 Garlands Lane, received a four-star raring and Alden Estates of Barrington, 1420 South Barrington Road, recieved a five-star rating from U.S. News and World Reports. U.S. News and World Reports rated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide as part of its 2013 rankings, with fives stars being the top ranking for nursing homes, according to the news website. Starting on Valentine's Day, The Garlands of Barrington celebrates 10th anniversary with photographic exhibit.
The Garlands of Barrington, an award-winning, continuing-care retirement community, celebrates its 10th Anniversary and commitment to the community with a tribute to its members’ in a photographic narrative exhibit entitled "Commitment: Stories of Lasting Love." The exhibit features inspiring stories of Garlands members’ kept vows, love and devotion that span a lifetime, offering a rare, intimate glimpse at lasting love. The show will be on display at The Gallery at The Garlands, 1000 Garlands Lane, Barrington, from Valentine’s Day through the end of April. The seven Garlands veterans from Barrington (Bill Youngberg, Bucky Ellis, Jack Roche, Ray Wilke, Vette Kell, John Faassen and Gene Seibert) experienced an unforgettable day in Washington D.C. touring the World War II Memorial and the nation’s capital as honored guests of Honor Flight Chicago last week on July 11. The World War II veterans received a Heroes’ welcome home and, as the photos show, they had an emotional and moving experience.
