The proposal for rezoning and a Planned Unit Development for the Dimucci property at Old McHenry Road and Rte. 12 will go before the Lake County Board on Oct. 9. The Dimucci family is requesting rezoning and a PUD for a commercial development on the 109-acre Dimucci property, which is at the southeast corner of Route 12 and Old McHenry Road, near Hawthorn Woods. The proposal has gone through an extensive review process throughout the summer, which included numerous public hearings in which residents expressed their concerns over the controversial proposal. The Lake County Planning, Building and Zoning Department sent a notice announcing the continuance of the public hearing regarding rezoning of the Dimucci property at Rte. 12 and Old McHenry Road, until Sept. 6. The first Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) public hearing on rezoning and a Planned Unit Development, or PUD, for the Dimucci property was held on July 18. It was primarily devoted to presentations by the petitioner, in a four-hour meeting that drew about 200 residents. The next scheduled meeting was on July 25, and was to include public comment. However, the County requested a continuance of the Dimucci hearings until Aug. 15, to give the County time to meet with Hawthorn Woods and North Barrington, who have opposed the Dimucci plan. …
