The National Weather Service's forecast for this week calls for rain nearly every day this week. But wait—it gets worse! We could even see some snowflakes! The week starts off with a 90 percent chance of precipitation, with showers and thunderstorms. The forecast high is 62 degrees with winds possibly gusting to 20 miles per hour. There's a 60 percent chance of rain on Tuesday with a high near 46. Wednesday, too, will be rainy, with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. The forecast high is 49. Cooler Temperatures to Start the Week

Is another warm-up in store?

I need to preface this by telling you, readers, that the forecast for the first couple of days this week is no April Fools' Day joke. Yes, there is indeed a forecast high of 38 degrees both Monday and Tuesday—and forecast lows around 22 degrees both nights, according to the National Weather Service. Just where is Spring, you ask? It'll be back on Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high around 47. The skies are expected to be mostly sunny Thursday and Friday, too, with highs of 54 and 47, respectively, according to the National Weather Service. If you've been waiting for that spring warm-up to arrive, this is your week. Temperatures will reach the low 50s by week's end, but we'll have to deal with a couple more days of chilly temperatures first. There's a 40 percent chance of snow showers on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago, with a high temperature of 36. Skies will be mostly cloudy on Tuesday, with a forecast high of 37. The warm-up will begin on Wednesday, with a forecast high of 40 degrees and mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. If you've been hoping for warmer temperatures, this is the week you've been waiting for—sort of. OK, so it's not going to be balmy this week. This week looks to be a week of weather extremes, as we flirt with spring—and have a chance for thunderstorms—before being plunged back into a deep freeze by week's end.
